Should Men Wear Skinny Jeans?

They look great on women while also seeming to be pretty comfortable. So, why not wear a pair of skinny jeans with lots of stretch to show off those muscular calves?

Here’s the truth: When women look at a man who can fit into a similar jeans style as them, they think something is wrong!

We argue endlessly about politics, cars and pop stars, but there’s one thing most men (and women) unanimously agree on – tight, bum-squeezing denim is an absolute no-no for men.

Super tight denim only looks great on female models (and that too…only the supermodel thin kinds). The minute that men try to floss in tight jeans, they look like human popsicles and one begins to question just how comfortable they are. Many menswear bloggers have also questioned skinny jeans for men. Some say there is definitely a place for them in a man’s wardrobe, but, just how skinny should men’s skinny jeans be?

As jeans for men go through a style makeover, men are not sure of style sartorial rules anymore. How tight is too tight? Here is a simple rule to answer your confusion: When you’re trying too hard to fit it all in, it doesn’t work and it shows.

And if that isn’t enough to dissuade you from wearing tight jeans, here is another eye-opener. A study led by Dr Felipe Maybals from the Department of Psychology at the University of San Francisco found that 95% men who wear skinny jeans find other men attractive (gay alert, anyone)!

There is another angle to ponder upon —- wearing skinny jeans might cause real, physical damage. Meralgia Paresthetica is real and is a disorder that occurs when one of the nerves that runs along the outer part of a thigh gets compressed. The pressure on it causes symptoms of tingling, numbness and pain in the outer part of the thigh.

Sure, there is an age bracket of men who can get away with wearing skinny jeans. But unless you’re Zac Efron, Robin Hood or an all-American baseball player who is being paid millions to wear them, the bum squeezers are best avoided.
